Autumn Shopping Begins!

Autumn and Halloween merchandise is starting to show up in the stores.  I'm not seeing many bat motifs, but there is a lot of owl and raven stuff, similar to last year.

Of course, I bought some Halloween cottons.
from fabric.com

And I found the most bat-tastic salt and pepper shakers:
from Jo-Ann

Unfortunately, the "tree" is not very sturdy.  When you take one bat off, the tree falls over, taking the other bat with it.  :P  If I want to actually use the shakers, I'll need to anchor the tree to something heavier.

  3. Those bat salt and pepper shakers are really lovely! Sometimes (every year around Halloween) I wish I lived in the states. *sigh*

    1. Halloween is the one time of year I'm thankful for the commercial behemoth that is U.S. retail.

  4. Oooh nice fabrics! Good colours too! Purple!

The bat shakers are great. It's not usual to see bat merchandise made hanging upsidedown so it is very original looking!

    1. Yay, purple! :)

Indeed. I thought it was a clever design, having the bats hanging upside down. Too bad the accompanying tree is flimsy!

  7. I saw the shakers yesterday, and had to talk myself down. The cat would only break them.
